Ok, i just put in that ad for clanservers (sry its kinda big ass) but its right below the chat box if anyone wants to buy a server. Moving onward, check out this video with these 2 guys calling a "terrorist"

New CSS server!

WOOT!! I got a 10 man (I know, it's not THAT excellent) counter strike source server and i'm totally having an awesome time with it. I started a clan called Recon 1 and we already have like 7 members! It's going great. Oh, btw, i added a banner on the site for Clanservers, since those are the guys i got my server from. They're pretty awesome and if you buy a server PLEASE click on the ad since that gets me a few referal points. Btw, i'm not doing this just for referal points, i'm doing it because they're pretty wicked sick. Anyway..check em' out.

Edit: WILL POST BACK LATER!! I've got an awesome video to embed..

...Silence in the boardroom...

Not much out of GG lately, eh? Sorry I haven't been posting. I was just waiting for some ideas to strike the mind. Once again slashdot allows copy and pasting and turns away the actually interesting articles..what else is new. They've also got just about the most strict mods in the US. Plus, a bunch of people who have a LOT of time on their hands and just sit watching the site pull out new articles.

Script (i need to write one of these each week for the show i do)

Note; I’m testing out this blogger with msword thing. Anyway, this is the script I have to read on the TV show I’m on. I’m the Michael guy. –doc.write (like the new nick? :p)

James: Hello, I’m James Gilbert-
Michael: and I’m Michael Rowen. Today we’re going to be talking about the differences and similarities of the two main types of computers, desktops and laptops.
James: To begin, let’s talk about the desktop, currently the most popular type of computer. The desktop is a non-portable computer which allows it to weigh more and contain more.
Michael: Yes, the better hardware a system is loaded with, the heavier it most likely is. With the desktop this doesn’t matter since it sits in one place all the time. These computers are also easier to build, and are cheaper than laptops.
James: When choosing a desktop computer, you need to determine what you will be using it for. Most people, run few programs, and don’t require an amazing computer. However, people who play games or use image, video, or sound editing software will need a better computer than the average person.
Michael: When you wish to play games with high minimum specs, you can’t be too picky about prices. Dell’s XPS is a great computer for gamers, but the price is very expensive. If you wish to save a few hundred bucks on your next desktop though, building it yourself shouldn’t be put out of the question.
James: Building your own computer means that it can be completely customizable, and surprisingly, it’s not as hard as it sounds. If you have basic computer knowledge you can most likely do it. Computer parts aren’t expensive, but when added together it may seem like a lot. But if you compare the price of a Dell XPS to the same thing, just built yourself you will be very surprised.
Michael: When looking for parts to build your own desktop, check out newegg.com and pricewatch.com. Try to avoid eBay and other places like that since computer parts can easily be broken and sometimes people rip you off. Desktops, in all, are a lot cheaper than laptops and come with their own set of great qualities.
James: Now, to talk about the laptop. Laptops are neat since they are portable and can be taken anywhere. What most people don’t realize though is that the internet doesn’t work anywhere. A wi-fi, wireless fidelity, connection must be present and working for a connection to the internet to work.
Michael: So, though laptops may be portable, getting them to use the internet isn’t the easiest thing. Also, laptops are like diamond rings to thieves. Laptops are stolen regularly, and easily used. When taking your laptop on vacation or away from home, put passwords on all your accounts so if someone steals it, they’ll have to figure out the password or install a new operating system.
James: Now, let’s talk about the laptop’s hardware vs. the desktops. The laptop has decent hardware, enough to run games such as starsiege tribes, but don’t even think about trying games like halo, bf2, or metal of honor. The laptop version of the xps is extremely expensive and will still have a few problems playing these high-spec games.
Michael: The desktop on the other hand works great with most games, as long as you buy one with decent RAM (1 gig should be good) a good size hard drive (a minimum of 100 gigs) and a video card with 128 or 256 mb on it. For the video card, you can get 512mb but 256mb should be good.
James: Overall, if you travel a lot, defiantly get a laptop while non-traveling geeks should stick to their good old desktops as their hardware is much more advanced and they come a lot cheaper. They’re also easier to build, if you’d like to save a few hundred bucks.
Michael: Well that’s about it for today, don’t forget to tune in next week and join us for a discussion about game distribution systems.
James: This has been James and Michael on the BBN.

I'm stuck....

Alright, i'm a stranded blogger with a computer. And, most importantly bf2. Well, i haven't been blogging much lately due to bf2 and a lack of blog ideas. Well, basically i'm $tuck. Alright, well, aha! I've got it...let's talk about voip. Google has come out with it's next-gen messenger hence the name google talk. It's a voip based messenger that has it's good and bads. It also has something very weird called "wumpus game" which i have yet to figure out. Well, first off google is now entering the world of voip with a client better than skype or even gizmo. The quality is amazing, Lag= 0 and it has a sleek mac-like interface. Also, much like xfire it has a little status message that is customizable. Then say under my status i put "at meeting". This will now appear under my name on everyones buddy list.
But of couse, google talk isn't perfect. One annoying feature is its abillity to save a conversation. It saves every text conversation and next time you start talking to someone it will show your last conversation with your new one. Also, something discovered my mant people is that in google talk, there's a hidden message. It's a bunch of numbers but when you replace them with their letter ("a" would be 1 "b" , 2 etc...) it spells "Play the wampus game". However, when you click it doesn't load any game. Some other blogger did research it though and found out there is a such thing as a wampus game. They found a entry in wikipedia and it was some weird game. It's kinda like pong i think.
Not too many other things happened this week as far as computers go though. But how would i know, i've been playing battlefield 2 all week. I think i'm going to go download a mod for it in a few minutes. In case any of you don't know what battlefield 2 (also called bf2) is, it's a awesome first person shooter with a lot of action. The games homepage is located at http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/home.jsp?ncc=1 . Oh, bf2 brings up another story. A few weeks ago i bought the game at best buy for $50 and when i got home it didn't work. It turned out i didn't meet the min specs so i had to make some upgrades. So, before you buy it make sure you meet the min specs as for low-end users it probably won't work. MAKE SURE you have at least 128mb of ram on your video card.
Ahh, now i remember one more thing i wanted to talk about. The other day my friend told me that opera was giving away free paid versions. He got his hands on one, but i failed to get there fast enough and i'm wondering if anyone knows if they'll ever do it again. Does anyone know? I'd really like to get my hands on the paid version. Post in the chat box if you know.
Well, don't expect another post for a while, i've gotta get some stuff done. If you've got any questions about bf2 or something, just post em' in the chat box.

Give them a break....

So...I just read a article on Slashdot, and I believe as another user said that this guy is going a little overboard here. He claims that for 10 days he's going to run on a Linux system. Now here's Linux; a open-source OS that is nice to use every once and while but doesn't support most software. But it doesn't get that nasty malware that windows does. Ok, now here's windows; a completely customizable OS that can do many things but also gets stuck every once and a while. Linux, though I haven't used it before, looks like it just can't do the things windows can. Most programs don't work so your stuck with basic programs. And usually most distros are uglier than the windows interface. In other words, microsoft isn't THAT bad and if you wana go with Linux for 10 days too...Go right ahead, but after a while I imagine you'll get very bored with the basic software available.
